food food food...

am supposed to start dieting. but how, you tell me. there are SO many eating occasions :p

1. last Wed O and I went to modesto's at vivocity
this was a visit after such a long hiatus, not that we were ever regulars.. sadly, the salmon tomato cream pasta was no longer on the menu! i didn't feel like having pizza thus, ordered beef bolognese penne. it was such a boring choice and i can actually cook it myself haha.. oh but we were ordering a set dinner for 2 and the choices were limited. thus the boring choice. anyway it was yummy.
oh and i must comment on their service, it was SUPERB! we ordered drink, but when it was finishing, the waitress brought us 2 glasses of ice water. and we didn't need to ask for top-up ever, they'd automatically come top-up our water when it was low...
and they only served our main courses when we finished our appetizers... ditto for desserts..

oh their tiramisu was one of the better ones i've tried. i don't know how original can tiramisu be, maybe i can only comment on originality when i've been to italy? haha..

but seriously, being in Singapore, this kinda service (at this kinda price, i don't know about fine dining, haven't been to any) is rare!

2. last Saturday we went to friends' son's 4th bday party / houseblessing. they had indonesian food, i ate so much... then we had dinner at Breeks... they had one for one ice cream dessert.. oh man, so sinful

3. last Sunday we had lunch with dad at earle swensen's vivocity... first time to the 'earle' branch instead of the usual swensen's
and they had salad buffet, came with any main course!
AND we shared nutty mighty sundae... MORE and more sinful...

4. we watched St.Paul the musical by church of St Mary of the angels and UCC.. it started at 7pm and only finished after 10pm. we had VERY late dinner at niqqi cheese prata at pasir panjang... i had 2 plain prata and ice milo dinosaur... at about 10.30 pm OMIGOD.. super sinful...

5. we just had dinner at Dallas restaurant & bar at boat quay because we've known for a while that they have 50% off baby back ribs every Mon & Tue nights.. and O had been dying to try them out :p
so we've FINALLY tried it. and it was yummy and it was S$28++ before discount for full rack (S$22++ for half rack), it came with potato wedges (heaps of them!) and a tiny portion of coleslaw (but it was yummy and enough, but very tiny as compared to the wedges portion)
we also ordered The Dallas Platter (S$14++ for 2, they also have S$26 for 4) which consisted of Dallas wings, chicken & cheese quesedillas, & salt and pepper calamari
all yummy
OH and to top it up, they were having happy hour so we had a pint each of stella artois and san miguel (S$8++ each). actually i ordered stella artois but found out i preferred san miguel (not as bitter!) thus, i swapped with O hee hee...

OK, that's about my sinful food recently.. not to mention the occasional doritos as dinners... damn... i really have to start my dieting soon!!

cooking for 2

when we just moved to our new home, i spent quite a lot on necessities such as cooking oil, soya sauce, etc. etc. etc.
thing is, items like onion and garlic are not sold in small amount, we have to buy quite a big bag each.
even though they can be kept for quite long, it's not THAT long.
i just threw away a bag or garlic and a bag of onion. only used a little bit. what a waste!
i probably should go back to buying chopped garlic (in a jar/plastic), although they don't smell as fragrant... sigh...
i also still need to buy more sauces.
when i start cooking, i realized the food doesn't taste as nice if i try to be too healthy.
and after asking grandma a couple of times, i realized her cooking tastes very delicious because she always uses oil, salt, sugar, soya sauce (both dark and light), and of course garlic.

hmm... i need to practice cooking more often.

i wanna go holiday with O

since last Nov, I haven't been to a holiday with O.
In fact, Nov'08 was to Jkt for friends' weddings. Not to mention it's JAKARTA, it never counts as a holiday :(

Even my 2nd trip to Jkt end Nov'08 was without O.
And then January'09 trip to Phuket with friends (colleagues).
And East Timor trip with COTE.
And again the Jakarta trip with siblings. I met O only once, for grandpa's bday dinner.

Omigod. I just realized, our last trip together (to a real holiday) was to Cambodia and that was in August'08 and it was only for 3D/2N and I was sick!!

OK, I really need to plan a holiday.
Hopefully Autumn in Japan.
I can't go THAT long without a proper holiday!!

being sick is no fun

uuuuuugggggggghhhhhh
the phelgm is really persistent. runny nose is much better today though. i hope i'll be fine by monday. the air-con in the office is really too cold, even with long sleeve cardigans/jackets.

when i'm sick, i really don't feel like doing anything except lazying around watching tv, and sleeping...

oh we went to watch 'ghosts of girlfriends past' at The Cathay this afternoon after a late lunch at astons specialities
quite an enjoyable movie

we shared a slice of cappucino cheesecake and a grande hot chocolate at starbucks after movie
hee hee nice date :p

i hate runny nose

ugh
i'm flying off to jkt in a few hours time
but im having runny nose since yesterday and fever 2 nites ago as well as last nite
luckily no more fever now, otherwise airport staff might stop me from flying off!!

might not meet as many friends as i wanted to coz it's kinda a family reunion this time
plus now that im sick, i just wanna sleep all the time!! :(

hmmm most prob will attend my Dec high school reunion but might only go to jkt for 1nite kinda thing as it's a super bz period for retails.

Holiday! I want!

This year O and I haven't been to any holiday together!
Well, I've been to Phuket with my colleagues (who have become friends :D hee hee) and to East Timor but that was not really a holiday, although the "working hours" are much shorter haha..
We didn't even go to Jkt for CNY coz O was busy, couldn't take leave.
I can't believe it's June now, half a year was gone just like that!

The other time I almost bought airtix to Tokyo coz it's so cheap (now there's another promo, in fact lotsa promos, to Europe all less than S$1k nett omigod). But the timing was really off as there were lotsa changes at work, and people are taking turn to be on leave...
And anyway mom suddenly suggested that we all go to Jkt for grandpa's 78th birthday celebration.

After that I remembered that O's sis is supposed to graduate end of this year, which means the graduation ceremony will probably be early next year. So, I got all excited about planning a Europe trip.

BUT, in all the weirdness, I don't know why the SIL (sister in law) cannot answer on when she will graduate, only say that she will have an oral exam end of this year, which is kinda the final exam (huh?). And I don't contact her directly but thru O. So. Sigh.
O is saying that we don't need to arrange the timing to fit her graduation thingy (as we don't know when that will be), but I told him, where are you going to whip up the money from, if we go on this trip and when we come back, she graduates, and we need to go Europe again? As if it's in JB like that. HAIZZZZZZ

So, now I can't plan anything and I'm very annoyed.
All the airtix are like less than S$800 nett lerrrrrr

And not to mention I have to "book" my leave in advance, now that there are many many busy period in Singapore team. SIGH. I seriously don't know when I can clear my 10 days leave.
Or 5 days if I carry forward 5 days, but that 5 days have to be cleared by end Mar next year anyway. So, if I don't plan for any holiday, won't need that 5 days anywayyyyyyyy
uuuuuuuugggggggghhhhhhhh the more I type, the more annoyed I get.

I shall try to sleep now.

I should restrain from shops

Well, when the economy is bad and it's GSS, retailers all slash prices.
I didn't really plan to shop this GSS but, I've bought quite a number of things! uh..
I went back to Fox at Plaza Sg to try my luck (if the jacket with missing button was still there, i'd buy it) but didn't hope much coz yesterday the Ngee Ann City staff said only IMM and Parkway Parade have my size, right.
I ended up buying the grey one, which initially I didn't like, much preferred the pink one. Anyway, grey will actually match more of my clothes. So.
And my new seat at work is cold, have to wear jacket daily. hee hee. So many excuses.

(Oh and yesterday I bought ESPRIT jeans coz it's super cheap, as cheap as at their HK's factory outlet. And on Sunday I just bought River Island's jeans coz it was at 50% off and I really need jeans, only have 1 and it's kinda too tight).

Not to mention that Orchard Central might be opening soon.
Ugh..

Service

This is nothing to do with the fact that I moved to TBS Singapore (thus, more retail related).

I've always been a not-so-fussy person when it comes to services. However, it bugs me when recent experiences, at TCC and uh I can't remember where else, were quite unpleasant. It's a small thing, really, but it just bugs me i have to blog about it.

When we finished our meals (separately, as in some people were still eating and some people were done) it's already impolite enough for the wait staff for wanting to immediately clear the plates. What I encountered was worse, she asked whether it's OK for her to clear the plate, and then WAIT FOR ME TO PASS HER THE PLATES as the table was quite long and she couldn't reach it. GOSH.

But I have to comment on this retail staff at Mphosis, I bought a bag and a slipper yesterday at Plaza Singapura (50% & 70% off respectively!) and mistakenly took other customer's size 6 slipper (mine was supposed to be size 8, under the dim light it looked similar), coz I've tried on earlier and the staff asked for it to be put at the cashier and wrote my name on the label (the one I took was named Angel) while I continued shopping.
About 3-4 hours later I realized the slipper was size 6 and not 8 and named Angel instead of Mira. I went back to the shop and instead of telling me off (I know sale items are non exchangable, and cashier already told me to check my itembefore making pyament), the staff said she'd go in and check. After a while she told me that FOX retail staff bought the size 8 pair as size 6 that I took was the last one. So, I followed her to FOX upstairs and she exchanged with Angel (the FOX staff). WOW.

That brought me to FOX. As I stood outside to wait for her exchange, I spotted this jacket, which is kinda expensive at S$69 but there's 40% off and additonal 15% off with UOB credit card.
There was only 1 piece left for my size and one of the button was missing. The staff didn't offer to alter it nor to give me an extra button.
I contemplated buying, but thought I might be able to get it at other branches.
After a while, I saw another staff and mentioned that this is the last piece and the button was gone, otherwise I'd have bought it.
She said oh there might be one inside and went to check (unfortunately there was none. but her willingness to check is commendable).

I then went to Vivo branch and again, no size. I asked to check other branches' stock but was told they didn't do that during sale period. Btw, at that moment it wasn't so busy.

I went to Ngee Ann City branch today, again, no size, and the staff approached me. I said I wanted to write down the product code so that I could check which stores have stock.
She offered to check it for me! (turned out only IMM and Parkway parade have one each. I can reserve for 3 days but they're both so far. I haven't called yet..)
