Friday friday friday

very weekend mood today... whole day
the rain made it worse haha..
and we had lunch at swensen's coz there's one for one sundae voucher
the service was SUPER BAD at swensen's plaza singapura. dun go there ever again!

starbucks

is bloody expensive
since when is a tall (smallest) coffee cost S$6? I thought it's a few cents cheaper? haha..

although it's only S$0.50 more for the grande and another S$0.50 for the biggest cup, I resisted the tempation haha
and the cute guy who prepared my coffee kept talking to me, including confirming that i want it with low fat milk (i ordered caramel macchiato)
so i asked him to make it less sweet also haha..

i drink the frappuccinos more often than hot coffees
but the office is so cold today!

Do you notice...

...how people always change their friendster/facebook profile photos to their babies' photos once they give birth?.

...how they go missing for weeks/months after changing the photos? (babies must have taken all their time)

*I'm not judging, I might do that one day if/when I decide to have kid(s) ~ assuming I can get pregnant if I want to*
**Many people still think that it's very easy and they're assuming everyone CAN get pregnant if they want to**
***And even more people still think that kid(s) is/are a MUST HAVE***

Kinda lame

Just now on the super packed train I saw this advertisement.
It's about BNP Paribas agricilture (SGD) fund, and it says

Complimentary S$20 isetan voucher for every S$20,000 investment

Why would people who can afford to invest S$20k be interested by a mere S$20 T.W.E.N.T.Y D.O.L.L.A.R voucher??????? OMIGOD so lame

mmmm

when unknown people add you on facebook/friendster, what do you do?

i usually ignore / reject / ask - then reject
ignore - if they seem normal but i dunno them
reject - if they're some pervert/psycho
ask - if they seem COMPLETELY normal, and a friend of friend. I will ask whether he/she knows me (usually NO *WEIRDO*). Come to think about it, those that I asked usually don't know me either. Well, I don't usually forget people so I'm kinda sure I don't know them but just to be polite I have to ask, right?? So when they say they don't know me, I ignore from then on.

The above are mostly on friendster. Now with facebook, again, even more friends of friends add me. I don't know you people, stop adding me!! I don't wanna make virtual friends at all.
I can't be bothered to ask, coz I might have shaked his/her hand(s) once and totally forget about them, so it won't be so nice to ask. ARGH

my wants

eat paella from the tapas tree, clarke quay. it's SUPER nice, go try! the tapas are nice too. only tried once... and i think medium group will be better so can try many varieties
at the same time, drink their white wine sangria (and/or the red wine one)
feel at home somewhere, someday (hopefully soon)
buy a couple of cocktail dresses, there are so many weddings to attend *i luv weddings*
buy shoes/sandals and more clothes. i now have to wear all my new clothes, which are very limited. thus, i have to buy while GSS is on!
not feel disappointed for not being selected as one of the volunteers to go to Aceh playscheme with children on the edge in July08
have something to look fwd to in near future. currently: NADA.NOTHING.ZERO.
*omigod i just browsed my archived and found this, almost a year ago. that shows how fast Singapore is changing* be patient when stucked in the middle of the crowds every morning and evening.. sigh..

retail therapy

after all the sadness, GSS comes in handy for my much needed retail therapy mwahahaha

it officially started last Friday 23 May. (The Body Shop's GSS already started on Thu 22 May).

Oh and on Friday I happened to pass Mphosis and they just started their 50-70% off storewide sale! I bought a top for S$10.30

But dun have my size for sandals.

no more cruise & more sadness

after research, it's too expensive for 5 people to go on cruise (the 4N kind). As in expensive for a last minute, unbudgeted holiday, and paying not only for ourselves.. *plus erm I'm not exactly excited?*

so maybe it should be Bali? Or not going holiday at all? haha.. doesn't matter, not something to look fwd to anyway (for me). it's a bit weird to have to go holiday with people whom you only meet 1 time and don't keep in contact at all (sis-in-law) or meet at most twice a year and also don't interact much (in-laws) - do you chit chat with your in-laws? I usually have nothing to say at all no matter how hard I tried.. coz usually when i meet older people (parents' friends, aunties, uncles, they are the ones who ask lotsa questions or make small talks and I just answer/listen. I'm not good at initiating conversations with older generations who are quite different in many ways).

and also not that many places are suitable for old people who can't really walk long... at least old ang mohs enjoy beaches, but for asian (chinese), what are the choices??? hmmmm
i seriously can't think of any..
any suggestion?

oh and mom's PR application is rejected, no reason given (it was already very confusing when applying as it was only stated that citizen can apply PR for 'aged parent' - how old? what are the criterias? haiz)
i dunno whether i should appeal or how to go about appealing. sigh.

I'm supposed to go jogging this afternoon but i was still a bit dizzy from all the chivas last nite.. we all drank like crazy! plus i was lazy lar haha.. didn't jog since 3 weeks ago coz my right foot was a bit injured after that 5km jog, i think coz i wasn't wearing my jogging shoes :( i'm kinda worried when i jog now it'll come back coz i din do anything to it at all, it just suddenly healed 1 day after we came back from HK.. but i still feel it a bit if i walk too much
and instead i ate laksa at about 9+pm
the one downstairs is so nice! i tried a spoonful when O ate the other time and have been saying i wanna have it one day. it's only S$3, the soup is really nice and there are losta cockles!
and uncle is very friendly hee hee

sad

O is not talking/listening to me coz he's watching van helsing on TV (a totally weird movie to me). He's always ignoring me totally whenever the TV is on, it doesn't matter if it's a series and he sees it for the 1st time in the middle of that series - meaning he doesn't know what's going on AT ALL - he will still ignore me. MEN can't multi-task at all.

That's not why I'm sad.
O lost his wallet today.. left it in a cab (it was raining heavily so we took cab home from Westmall). He realized like 1 minute after we alighted the cab but it was too late, and didn't remember the cab number. Called the cab company to announce but after a while they said nobody responded. Sigh. Hopefully there'll be good news from the cab company tomorrow (in case they missed when it was announced).

S$80 gone and he blocked the credit/debit card and ATM cards, but what's worrying is the IC.. it's very important in SG (plus it's S$100 to make a new one, 2nd loss onwards it's S$300).

Cruise?

My sis-in-law is going home for her summer holiday (end Jul to early Oct) and we might plan to go holiday together with my in-laws.

But I can't really think of anywhere suitable for old people who can't really walk long (father-in-law). Sightseeing always requires lotsa walking, while they won't enjoy beach resort (which will be heaven for me!).
Thus, I suddenly think of star cruise. Minimum walking, there'll be pool, entertainment, food.

Hmm now only need to decide the timing.

i've blogged about how I really dislike watching violent movies/shows nowadays..

i still always cry whenever there's touching story on tv/novels

i just cried after reading this. i'm certainly not an animal lover, but this is truly cruel. why would someone do that?? there's been many similar cases over the years.

seriously packed

i mean, Singapore.

A couple of morning ago, I almost couldn't board the train at Lakeside (remember, it's only the 2nd station). I mean I could, but it was seriously super packed, and imagine I need to go thru another 12 stations before I alight and change to the red line. Usually at Jurong East there are a lot of people boarding the train.
So, I waited for the next train. Of course I still couldn't get a seat as always.
Oh and most of the time the train is warm, I think too many people until the air-con doesn't work well.

Yesterday after work I was meeting friends for Angel's farewell dinner at Westmall (Bukit Batok), so I had to change to the red line at Jurong East.
*note: I left office at 6pm sharp as if I were 10-15 minutes later, sometimes I couldn't even get in at City Hall/Raffles Place*
There were SO MANY people boarding the train! I was just in front of the door and a guy squeezed his way in, I had to put my bag at my back so that I don't have any contact with that guy. Ugh.

I really wish next year this time I'm not suffering like this anymore!!!!!!!!!

There were professional photographers from The Colourful Faces outside the ballroom, they printed our photos on the spot. But they didn't print some though, half-way dinner we went out and they were gone *boo* while they were supposed to print all (when checked earlier, they said "still printing")

I dun really like the picture, a tad too childish but it's kinda meaningful as currently I feel as if i'm searching for the rainbow's end (NOT for myth-treasures but greater things in life. NOT in a pessimistic ways - as we all know there's no gold at rainbow's end, but in a daze/hazy ways as everything is kinda unclear at the moment)

anyway, it's past midnite now so i might continue tomorrow or this weekend

oh one last post before the trip

mama was saying that for people who were born in the year of rooster, it's good to have baby(s) in year of ox and/or snake. and for me, dragon is a choice, too coz O was born in the year of monkey.

problem is, Ox is in 2009 (too soon!!) and Snake is 2013 (a tad too long!!, I'll be 31!!)
Dragon is 2012.. only 1 year before Snake.

today - more food, and 2 DVDs

*the title is so lame haha*
well, yesterday, as is every Sat, is late nite shopping day, but Isetan wasn't participating, they closed at 10pm. So mom and the rest were going home, but I was very tired and thirsty, couldn't imagine standing up for another 1 hour (it takes 1 hr from Orc to home). So, we walked around longer, and went to Food Republic. And O had the below for supper:

Today after church, we had lunch at Pasta Mania. I ate hawaiian pizza! nice! cheesy! thin! sinful hee hee

We were supposed to go home straight after church to pack for HK trip (but it's now 8.30pm and no such packing in sight)

We watched the warlords on DVD. This movie made me so stressed up. It's so cruel and mean and weird!!! I luv all 3 actors but I seriously dislike inhumane movies nowadays. Heck, I dun even enjoy watching The Contender (and I knew the winner already coz of 8 days ggrrrr. That reminds me, we're gonna miss the Survivor finale this Friday!!! arrgghhh!! Is HK showing survivor on TV??)

and we watched Man of the Year after the Warlords. Not bad

too much food hee hee

Friday nite O and I went to Hog's breath cafe at Holland Vilalge. I had Sol (Mexican beer) and steak (not the prime rib), while O had erdinger weisbeir and full rack baby back ribs. They're having promo 2nd main course at 50% off but not for the prime rib. The steak I had was very nice though.

As planned, Sat afternoon we went to Scotts Lounge at Grand Hyatt hotel for the high-tea buffet to celebrate Mother's Day. Sis didn't wanna go on actual day (today) coz tired, tomorrow is working day....
They didn't increase the price (S$28+++).
I think the spread of savoury items were not as good as before, but still not bad. Yos had 4 servings of the beef!
The cakes were of course very delicious, and the chocolate fondue was still as yummy as ever. After that we went shopping for 5 hours straight hahaha.. Yos said women's stamina for shopping is incredible.

hee hee hee
i've lost total of 14.1kg!!! that's 0.6kg since last Fri
today I started the maintenance phase, which means carbo 3x a week.
just nice for HK trip hee hee... and I just binged on chocolate! oh no!
erm but maintenance phase might gain 1-2kg.. hopefully after HK trip I can maintain my weight

going for high tea buffet this Sat for mother's day celebrations.. will be going to Scotts Lounge at Hyatt hotel, same place as sis' bachelorette party last year.

most of the reports due this wk/by nxt Mon are done, so happy
can't believe it's Friday again tomorrow! really super damn fast (TOO FAST!!)

oh..

and O was hungry when we were about to reach home after karaoke sessions (12.30am) , so we went downstairs (the hawker centre now opens 24 hours) and he ordered his fav minced pork noodle. See the amount of meat the uncle gave him!! And he drank Teh peng while I only stared at him eating, and drank Teh O Peng (wanted to order Teh O kosong peng but forgot to bring equal haha).

AND he is still so skinny. SO NOT FAIR!!!

We had clam chowder and half wrap for dinner from the soup spoon which is my newly found fav place. Dunno why it took me this long to try it haha.. it was 2nd time. 1st time I had their pumpkin soup and half Greek mix salad. Yummy!

Nice dinner date

with O, obviously, I dun date any other guy haha..

We went to Oosters (I think this was our 3rd or 4th time there).

Here are what we ordered:
Deep Fried Camembert (S$15)
Eight pieces of breaded camembert cheese served with cranberry sauce.

O luv it. I've been wanting to try it coz I read about it at some food blogger's blogs. The other time we ordered but it was not available.
Erm I dunno why I didn't feel like taking pics.
Maybe coz it's been quite long since we had a nice date just 2 of us (recently always with families, not counting Batam lar)

Pots of Mussels (S$41)
- The Belgians eat them by the kg. You can too (or share) but for most a half portion of 500g will be sufficient. Put your discarded mussel shells in the lid of your casserole dish. Keep the shell of the first mussel you eat. You should use this shell as a pincher to pluck the rest of your mussels. So please, No Knives and Forks!
All are served with frites (chips), mayonnaise and dipping sauces, just like in Belgium.

we chose this sauce:
Moules au Pesto
- Mussels with creamy pesto sauce.

and for dessert:
Waffles
Warm homemade waffles with a choice of raspberry compote or thick chocolate sauce.

Not nice :( boooo... wasted the calories intake for the day.
haiz.. should've gone to max brenner!!! i LUV anything they sell haha haven't tried all, but mostly nice. the chocolate are rich and not too sweet (depends on which kind, but i prefer dark/bitter ones)

beers:
O had always ordered this beer when we visited Oosters
Pauwel Kwak
Alcohol: 8%
Character: This double fermented amber ale displays earthy aromas and a light vanilla/liquorice taste. Named after the innkeeper who first brewed it in 1791, it is served in its own miniature yard of ale glass.

and for me (2nd time)
Hoegaarden Forbidden Fruit
Alcohol: 8.5%
Character: Deep red, mellow and full bodied, with hints of roasted malt, coriander and dried orange peel. Succumb to the temptation…
Hmm the Pauwel Kwak is sweeter than the forbidden fruit! have tried leffe blonde and chimay (forgot blue or red), all not bad.

Watched Iron Man with O last nite at GV Tiong. Iron Man was awesome. I obviously didn't know the comic exist.
But I'm a superhero-movies kinda gal, so it's a must watch (erm but also coz O wanna watch so we went haha). We wanted to watch the forbidden kingdom but heard that it's not nice...
